“Flatliner” – Cole Swindell (Feat. Dierks Bentley)
With two number one singles off his You Should Be Here record,Cole Swindell‘s releasing the third single from the project, titled, “Flatliner.” Which could potentially be the first big party anthem of the year.
The song, a collaboration with Dierks Bentley, is one I’ve wanted to spin on Boot Scootin’ Saturday Night for awhile now. This is definitely a big party anthem that’ll be “dropping them dead on the dance floor.” As you can imagine I’m fairly excited that we’re spinning this tonight.
Swindell tells The Boot that this song is one from the archives, back when he was just a song writer with a publishing deal. He says, “when we started writing it, I had Dierks in mind, kind of like, ‘this would be a cool Dierks Bentley song.'”
“A year or so ago, I was texting with [Bentley] and sent it to him and he loved it,” Swindell tell’s CMTs Country Countdown USA, “We talked about it for a while and sure enough, we got to do it. I’m just very excited to be singing with Dierks.”
To me, it’s a no brainer. The song fits both vocalists perfectly. In fact, at times it’s hard to tell the two voices apart. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering if it’s a Cole Swindell or Dierks Bentley led song because the tune is similar in style to other Bentley hits like “Sideways” and “5-1-5-0.”
In just a few days, Swindell will join Bentley on his What The Hell Tour, along with Jon Pardi when it kicks-off in Dayton, Ohio on January 19.
