“Body Like A Backroad” – Sam Hunt
Sam Hunt kicked-off the new year with an emotional and personal new single called “Drinkin Too Much,” which was apparently just a tease of what was still to come.
A month down the line, we’re getting our next look into Hunt’s sophomore project with the official lead single, “Body Like A Back Road.” Written by Hunt, Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne.
The song is a stripped down feel-good tune that’ll have you rolling the windows down on a summer drive. The single reminds me of Hunt’s release “Rasied On It” from back in 2013.
(“Rasied On It” was released independently in 2013 and later included on Montevallo. It peaked at No. 41 on the Airplay chart and, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated songs from Sam Hunt.)
“Body Like a Backroad” is about being stopped dead over someone’s beauty, then getting to know that beauty and body like a familiar backroad you’re cruisin’ down on a no worries summer day.
|| “Body Like a back road, driving with my eyes closed / I know every curve like the back of my hand / Doing 15 in a 30, I ain’t in no hurry / I’mma take it slow, just as fast as I can.”
I like how Billy Dukes of Taste of Country puts it, It’s a song, “if you’re amongst the millions of men that struggled with a smooth pick up lines at some point.”
No word yet on a title or release date for Hunt’s sophomore album. Check out his new single here:
